Friday 19 July 2019. The concept of the chairman’s social outing is now something of a tradition. It is not a specific photo project, but bring your camera since the venue offers much of photographic interest. We meet from 10.15 am at the Visitor Centre for the Colne Valley Regional Park. At 11 am, Fiona Brewer, a project manager, will give us a short talk in the Garden Room of the café about the Colne Valley Park and its many attractions.
Lunch is from 1pm at the Falcon Inn (opposite Denham Village green (see map, post code UB9 5BE). There is an outdoor covered patio for our use, but no car park. Orders will be taken at the café. (Food details at www.falcondenham.com). It takes under 15 minutes to walk to the village along the South Bucks Way, parallel to the River Misbourne.
The Visitor Centre (see map, post code UB9 5PG) is on Denham Court Drive. Coming from Amersham and the Chalfonts on the A40 follow the brown direction sign and turn left off the A40, which at this stage forms part of the M40 Junction 1 gyratory system. The Centre has ample parking at £4.50 (cash or card) for over 3 hours (the parking fees help support the Colne Valley Park).
Alternatively, you may find kerbside parking in Denham Village, but space availability is unpredictable. Turn left off the A40 onto the A412 and shortly turn right onto Village Road. To find the footpath to the Visitor Centre walk along Village Road passing St Mary’s Church, and turn left onto the South Bucks Way on the bend in the road, opposite Mill Cottage.
